Hello ladies, I have done quite a bit of messing with our website and have added and deleted some pages. What do you think so far of my messing around? Any ideas as to better our site or make some adjustments?
I am going to start really playing around with it ASAP....my sister has been visiting this week and i have to redo that entire 9th module, so once that stuff is dealt with, i can really focus on the next module! Sorry! :)
Leah, do you live in Kalamazoo? If so, we can meet. Again, if you have the original file, .aup, just open it from My Computer or your jump drive and will will start in the program. Then, export it as a .wav or .mp3. Do this before you try to redo your podcast. If you have a response to this or the past email I sent, reply to webmail or in eLearn.
Amy or the group, if you need any help with the site or the format you have set up, feel free to ask. You can even send me your website link, so I can offer pointers.
Amy, I am impressed with your progress on the site so far. i am beyond confused as to how to work anything, and am unable to find stellar directions, so far...any ideas? Also, the logo on the bottom of the page needs to be linked back to the main wmich.edu page. I tried to delete the one that is currently on the website, but couldn't figure out how/where to upload a new one.
Also, i wondered if we could all meet one time....maybe some weekend...and just knock a bunch of this website out? I keep trying to help on the website, and am definitely just messing things up and making it WAY WORSE.
I am free next weekend....um....saturday, before like..5 (my anniversary weekend! :)) or anytime on sunday...Alyssa, let me know if either of those work for you!
Did you get my reply? I didn't hear back from you.
Not sure if you have added more since you last sent it to me. I would love to see what feedback you get from your group.
To make it even easier on you...use your concept map. If you want, your main sub concepts could be your pages. What's branched off could be the content. Whatever you haven't covered for assignments submitted, could serve as the new ides, other required outside links you need, and or original resources each of you are required to have.
Kelsey
-Keep me posted and I will check whenever you guys need me too
Is our big bang page the "classroom weather production"? Did we end up deciding on that...or am i making all of that up?! lol
Alsp- this week i want to finish a bulk of this website: I am going to work on it basically all day on Saturday. I am going to finish my "new item", and finding all of the specific GLECs for the website. I will also post my digital story and podcast (now that those grades i hope are in for everyone??) Alyssa and i will work through some stuff on Saturday afternoon too, and then let you know, Amy. Please continue to get on my back about this website...end of the semester always means wanting to be LESS AND LESS homewokr! :) I think we all know that feeling!
Yes, I think we agreed on the classroom weather production was the "big bang". :) Yep, our grades are up, thanks! I hope I am not getting on your back...I'm just stuck on what to do next :0. I like Kelsey's idea to use the concept map to organize the web site and after you guys get together...I will do more on the site.
Amy & Alyssa- I really did some work on the site today...play around and let me know what you think! Also- the link on the sidebar entitled "So far on this project..." is where we can post our podcasts. I already have mine up there, and left spaces for yours! I used went into GoWMU and on e-learning and into that module, under the submission portion used that link...maybe we could all do that, so it looks consistent and nicely put together! I can help you guys if you need any help with that!
I got my podcast on there with the link...for some reason both of those links give me an error but it could be my windows media player...does it work when you click on it?
One of us needs to write an introduction including project based learning in it.
Yup! I was looking at the example ones, and i like the one that had a powerpoint about PBL...?? Opinion? I started it today, and i can finish it and post it tomorrow for you guys to look at?! And, i'll play around with the podcasts tomorrow too, and make sure they both work.
Amy- Okay- Alyssa and i met and worked on the website. We were thinking that in the sidebar, we needed to still split some stuff up? Maybe a separate box for our digital stories? or.....any ideas? Also- is the "create a classroom weather station" our big bang page!?'
WAIT.....WHAT?? i NEVER deleted one of your pages.....which one are you talking about? the classroom weather station one? I just moved it....and the good thing about google is that it saves it, i may have just tried to move it around on the site.... Did you find it again?
Also- i already have an introduction to PBL on the main page. And, yes- i did delete your podcast. I couldn't open it either....because of the whole elearning thing....i also deleted mine, if you look. i emailed Kelsey, because i couldn't figure out how to upload my podcast onto youtube....it couldn't convert the file or something.
I moved the concept map, because our site was starting to become organized by assignments, which we will lose points for. Also, the concept map basically organizes our entire site, so i feel like it makes sense on that first page. If you disagree you can do what you want with it.
Alyssa and i got together to try and cover a lot of our website. I understand that you couldn't be there to help, but we really spent a lot of time on it...
Okay- i rearranged some of the orders of the pages. We should post on here what we think the order of the pages should be. Remember: the order of the pages (according to our requirements) is that they should be ordered as you would want someone to view them... So maybe....moving the create a classroom weather station under with the more ideas category?
also- figured out why you page was "deleted" If you look at the bottom of the home page, there is a tab of subpages....and i was trying to get rid of those. I think when you created a new page...maybe you clicked to put it "under home" instead of a top level page, or whatever...?
I don't really care about the order...it was just one of those two pages that we were suppose to do by ourselves...I'm glad I was able to find it...I can't figure out how to get rid of the subpages either.
I think i tried to delete those subpages and that's how they disappeared from the sidebar. Also- i am going to move the create a weather station page....it will still be visible on the sidebar. If you don't like it....you can move it back to its current location.
Okay- last thing....i made a new page....using EXACTLY what you said for All About Clouds, called All About Clouds 2. lol If you could edit the page by simply uploading your youtube video again, i can get rid of the subpage from the home page! YAY! :) uM.....yeah....i guess let's do that. and then....still left is trying to figure out how to upload our podcasts, as well as our website evaluations from an early module under a page alyssa made today titled teacher resources. Anything else.....? hhmmmm..
I just looked at the power point...you did a great job on that! okay, i will re-upload my youtube...so we can eliminate that. did we only need the websites not the actual evaluations?
I just reread the module and it says about the evaluations of the websites "All team members web sites that were used for the Web Site Evaluation need to be linked on the web site -- each link needs a description of the web site. DO NOT use the web evaluations, just the URLs."
So that page looks good. I know we each need 3 more website links on the site.
Leah, Did you email Kelsey about about our two added sites? What about our podcast? I do not think I have mine anymore :( I can only get it off elearning? Are you just redoing yours? Do we have the google document of our script still?
Concerning the pages...I should see a total of 6 pages, at the least, to account for 2 pages per person (3) in your group.
A new idea is separate from your original resource. Also your webpage will, in a logical order, display what you did through the semester and convey to other teachers how they can be used as tools in the PBL. These should all culminate to the overall project your have them working on...yes they are learning about the chosen theme, but what was all the work geared toward? Being daily/mini newscasters or meteorologists? This is just an example and if so, that would be the focus of your last page.
Your new ideas, one or two, that need to be on each page is something you thought of that teachers could use or students could do, that we did not teach you. For example, the book talks about reflection, but we didn't assign that. Someone could state or implement journaling throughout the PBL. If someone wanted to take that further, they could generate an ex. journal entry or just the outline and attach, which would count as an original resource.
A new idea could also be to have a guest meteorologist come an speak. Along with that, a new idea could be for students to generate interview questions. To take that even further and supply a group member with a possible original resource, you could type up possible interview questions and attach.
As you go throughout thinking of new ideas and original resources...you could take a look at your concept map and see what subjects were covered; and create a table that outlines how the PBL is across the curriculum. You could also take a look at your concept map and see what you have not covered in your assignments...whatever is left, think of a new idea or original resource you could create to cover it.
I hope this helped and if it did not or you still have questions, we can arrange a conference call.
You can add it as an attachment to the bottom of your website. That is the only way you can put the mp3/.wav on your page.
Try it this way for YouTube:
If you wanted, you can go to MovieMaker and import any picture of your choice, as well as the mp3/.wav file. Then upload it to YouTube, as you did for the digital story. Then you can go to Insert > Video > YouTube...copy and past the url, on your website.
I managed to get my podcast up by using windows movie maker, adding a picture and uploading it to youtube. I then used the embed code and when adding it to the site used the html part on top...hope that makes sense, if not, let me know if I can help you get it on there.
Also, do you think that your power point consitutes as a new idea or my concept map on how to get started or the lesson plan on how to build a weather station?
I can't see your podcast, amy, when i go to the site....am i the only one?! Also, i uploaded my podcast as an attachment on the bottom....i was FINALLY able to get it to work! :)
Alyssa, i did my digital story on the dust bowl, which kind of falls into historical weather, so just make sure we don't overlap too much.
I am going to start really playing around with it ASAP....my sister has been visiting this week and i have to redo that entire 9th module, so once that stuff is dealt with, i can really focus on the next module! Sorry! :)

ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to meet up, but I live in Niles. I have also been put on modified bed rest, so I am unable to even go to my classes :(
ReplyDeletei can always meet up i live in Kalamazoo.. i havnet looked to much at the site but I will begin messing around too!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you two could meet together and just let me know what you decide? or what you want me to do? I would come but just not possible at this point.
ReplyDeleteI am free next weekend....um....saturday, before like..5 (my anniversary weekend! :)) or anytime on sunday...Alyssa, let me know if either of those work for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat are our goals to get done this week on the website?
ReplyDeleteI can do it anytime after 1 on saturday. Or we could meet up on sunday anytime.
ReplyDeleteSo do you want to say like 2 oclock sunday at waldo?
Amy, check your elearn email
ReplyDeleteI will post here as well:

Alyssa- that works for me....i just need to leave by....like 5:45 at the latest...
ReplyDeleteAlso- i will post later today on what i will do by the end of the week...
ReplyDeleteIs our big bang page the "classroom weather production"? Did we end up deciding on that...or am i making all of that up?! lol

ReplyDeleteSounds like a good idea!
ReplyDeleteAmy-
ReplyDeleteOkay- Alyssa and i met and worked on the website. We were thinking that in the sidebar, we needed to still split some stuff up? Maybe a separate box for our digital stories? or.....any ideas? Also- is the "create a classroom weather station" our big bang page!?'
The create a classroom weather station was one of the pages that I was creating as one of my two...I can't find it on there now though?????
ReplyDeleteThe weather production was the "big bang" ending, the classroom weather station was more about creating the tools.
We could have left the concept map on its own page if we wanted it separate because the first page is suppose to kind of open the site.
ReplyDeleteMy podcast is no longer on there either.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the digital stories are already separate.
ReplyDeleteokay I found the project based learning...I also was able to recover my page that I had created for creating a weather station.
ReplyDeleteWAIT.....WHAT?? i NEVER deleted one of your pages.....which one are you talking about? the classroom weather station one? I just moved it....and the good thing about google is that it saves it, i may have just tried to move it around on the site.... Did you find it again?

ReplyDeleteI found the web page and recovered it already.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I put it at the bottom is because I thought it would be closer to when they were going to do a forecast.
ReplyDeleteI don't really care about the order...it was just one of those two pages that we were suppose to do by ourselves...I'm glad I was able to find it...I can't figure out how to get rid of the subpages either.
ReplyDeleteI did find the project based learning page after..which i posted above. I was a little frustrated, because it seemed like everything I did was undone.
ReplyDeleteI think i tried to delete those subpages and that's how they disappeared from the sidebar. Also- i am going to move the create a weather station page....it will still be visible on the sidebar. If you don't like it....you can move it back to its current location.
ReplyDeleteSure, okay...what is left that you want me to do?
ReplyDeleteNow the way it is arranged it looks like it would fit better in the idea category.
ReplyDeleteOkay- last thing....i made a new page....using EXACTLY what you said for All About Clouds, called All About Clouds 2. lol If you could edit the page by simply uploading your youtube video again, i can get rid of the subpage from the home page! We do need to make sure there is an email on every page.
ReplyDeleteWe also need the "big bang" page which is the classroom weather forecast.

ReplyDeleteLeah,
ReplyDeleteDid you email Kelsey about about our two added sites?

Yes!i will post her email on here next. I just redid my podcast and yes the google doc is still there.

I found my podcast too. Can i post it as an attachment?
ReplyDeleteShould we make a new section of lesson ideas?
ReplyDeleteI am going to do my two extra sites on historical weather and either how to find weather or the layer of the atmosphere?
ReplyDeleteI can't see your podcast, amy, when i go to the site....am i the only one?! Also, i uploaded my podcast as an attachment on the bottom....i was FINALLY able to get it to work! :)
ReplyDeleteAlyssa,
i did my digital story on the dust bowl, which kind of falls into historical weather, so just make sure we don't overlap too much.
I just checked my podcast and it shows up as a youtube video...i wonder why you can't see it. Is there anything else I need to do?
ReplyDelete
