Module 8

Looks like this week, we need to work on our second lesson plan and collaborate some more on our concept map.

For the concept map, maybe we could put what we have done for our lesson plans onto the map, if they are not already there or list specific activities relating to the topics already on the map?

What do you think? Any other ideas?

  1. For my second lesson plan, I am going to have students choose a major city in the United States and collect data (temperature and rainfall) off of Weather Channel.com for a specified amount of time and then create a climate graph on Excel.

  2. I like the idea of having a shoot-off for our lesson plans on the concept map. Also, i think i am doing something similar to you for our lesson plan. I am going to have students use our weather date and then compare it to another city's data (probably one from the lesson plan we did using Google Maps), and create a graph comparing temperatures during different times of the year.

  3. I think our ideas will be different enough to not be considered the same thing. I checked through the module and it didn't say that it didn't mention anything about similarity in lesson plans this time.

I think we will have to let Alyssa know what we did in our lesson plans so that she knows what to do on the concept map. How does that sound Alyssa? Let us know if you need any help or ideas with the map.

Alyssa, you could also check the google map and document we did to see if there are any concepts or ideas that we left out of the original concept map.

  4. Yup....totally changed my idea! Sorry! I seem to have a tendency to do that! Anyways, i am going to have my students go to each classroom and "survey" the students to find out which season of weather they like better (out of the 4). Then make a graph comparing the results! Final Answer! :)

  5. Lol! You are funny, Leah. I thought of that idea too! It doesn't seem that there are a lot of options for this lesson plan based on Weather or maybe not :).

  6. Okay, so should the conept map have to do with Climate?? Should we discuss the different climates throughout the world?

  7. Or we could even just look at the different climates throughout the United States, depending on the age group we are looking to do.

  9. Yes, we could include climate on the concept map. I don't know how detailed you want to get with it (maybe link temperature and rainfal to it?).

  12. Okay, Alyssa. I don't understand why the concept map isn't up yet. You have known for 2 and a half weeks that you were gonna do it. I offered to do it. I don't feel like you are being fair to both Leah and I who will lose points because this is not up.

It also isn't fair that on a Sunday, we have to continually check to see if it is up, so that we can collaborate on it. And if we give you ideas when you put it up at the last minute, are you really gonna have time to edit it to include our ideas?

I am getting frustrated with this. It shouldn't be this stressful to work in a group.
